In 2026, Petra Insurance Brokers proudly marks a meaningful milestone: 60 years in the UAE for our Chairman and founder, Mr. Adnan Ghurani. His journey began in 1966, at a time when Dubai looked very different from the city the world knows today.
The UAE had not yet been formed. The Dirham had not yet been introduced. Dubai and Qatar were using the Qatar and Dubai Riyal. Dubai International Airport was still small, a very different gateway from the global aviation hub it has since become.
This was before the Palm, before Dubai Marina, before Downtown Dubai, before DIFC, and before many of the landmarks that now represent Dubai’s ambition to the world.
Before Jumeirah Beach Hotel and Burj Al Arab stood tall along the coastline, there was the famous Chicago Beach Hotel, a name that belonged to an earlier and very different chapter of Dubai’s story.
When Dubai World Trade Centre opened years later, it became one of the great symbols of the city’s progress and was once regarded as the tallest building in the Middle East. Today, it stands surrounded by towers that rise far above it.
How Times Have Changed
Mr. Adnan Ghurani did not arrive when the opportunity was obvious. He arrived when the future still required imagination.
His journey formed part of a remarkable period in the history of the UAE. Like many of those who came early and helped build their lives here, his path required courage, discipline, resilience, and the ability to adapt through uncertainty.
What He Built Was Never Only About Business
It was built on trust, relationships, reputation, and the belief that things should be done properly, even when the easier path was available.
Over six decades, he witnessed the UAE transform into one of the world’s most dynamic and respected nations. Through that transformation, he continued to hold onto the values that remain at the heart of Petra today: integrity, loyalty, hard work, respect for people, and long-term thinking.

في عام 2026، تحتفي شركة بترا لوسطاء التأمين بمحطة مهمة ومميزة، وهي مرور 60 عاماً على وجود رئيس مجلس إدارتها ومؤسسها، السيد عدنان غوراني، في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة.
بدأت رحلته في عام 1966، في وقت كانت فيه دبي مختلفة تماماً عن المدينة التي يعرفها العالم اليوم. لم تكن دولة الإمارات قد تأسست بعد، ولم يكن الدرهم قد صدر بعد، وكانت دبي وقطر تستخدمان ريال قطر ودبي. كما كان مطار دبي الدولي لا يزال صغيراً، وبعيداً جداً عن بوابة الطيران العالمية التي أصبح عليها اليوم.
كان ذلك قبل نخلة جميرا، وقبل دبي مارينا، وقبل وسط مدينة دبي، وقبل مركز دبي المالي العالمي، وقبل العديد من المعالم التي أصبحت اليوم تجسد طموح دبي أمام العالم.
وقبل أن يرتفع فندق جميرا بيتش وبرج العرب على ذلك الساحل، كان هناك فندق شيكاغو بيتش الشهير، وهو اسم ينتمي إلى فصل أقدم ومختلف تماماً من قصة دبي.
وعندما افتُتح مركز دبي التجاري العالمي بعد سنوات، أصبح أحد أبرز رموز تطور المدينة، وكان يُعد في ذلك الوقت أطول مبنى في الشرق الأوسط. أما اليوم، فيقف محاطاً بأبراج ترتفع فوقه بكثير.
كم تغيرت الأيام
لم يصل السيد عدنان غوراني في وقت كانت فيه الفرص واضحة، بل وصل في وقت كان فيه المستقبل لا يزال يحتاج إلى خيال ورؤية.
كانت رحلته جزءاً من مرحلة استثنائية في تاريخ دولة الإمارات. ومثل كثيرين ممن جاؤوا مبكراً وبنوا حياتهم هنا، تطلب طريقه الشجاعة والانضباط والمرونة والقدرة على التكيف مع ظروف لم تكن دائماً واضحة أو سهلة.
وما بناه لم يكن مجرد عمل تجاري، بل بُني على الثقة والعلاقات والسمعة والإيمان بأن الأمور يجب أن تُنجز بالطريقة الصحيحة، حتى عندما يكون الطريق الأسهل متاحاً.

على مدى ستة عقود، شهد التحول الكبير الذي جعل دولة الإمارات واحدة من أكثر دول العالم ديناميكية واحتراماً. وخلال كل ذلك، ظل متمسكاً بالقيم التي ما زالت في صميم بترا اليوم، وهي النزاهة والولاء والعمل الجاد واحترام الناس والتفكير بعيد المدى.
وفي بترا لوسطاء التأمين، لا يزال إرثه يؤثر في هويتنا، وفي الطريقة التي نخدم بها عملاءنا، ونعمل بها مع شركائنا، ونمثل بها شركتنا.
ومع استمرار العالم في التغير، تظل بترا ملتزمة بالتطور والتحسين والمضي قدماً، مع الحفاظ على المبادئ التي قامت عليها منذ البداية.
اليوم، لا نحتفي بمحطة زمنية فحسب، بل نحتفي برحلة مؤسس امتلك الشجاعة ليبني من الصفر، والقدرة على التكيف والاستمرار وسط التغيير، وترك إرثاً ما زال يلهم الجيل القادم.
